Custom Garment Racks

Racks do more than hold clothes — they set the rhythm of a floor, decide how dense a wall reads, and get handled by every customer who browses. We design custom garment racks in metal, wood and mixed media, sized to the actual floor plate rather than to a catalogue width.

Racks sized to the space, not the catalogue

Off-the-shelf racks come in fixed lengths, which is why so many floors end up with a gap at the end of a wall or a rack that sits awkwardly in a corner. Custom garment racks are made to the actual dimensions of the wall or bay, so the run finishes where the architecture finishes and the rail pitch matches the garment hanger in use.

We design wall-mounted hanging systems, floor-standing merchandisers, multi-brand boutique fixtures and racks with integrated shelving or drawers, then specify the finishes — powder coating, brushed or plated metal, timber, or a combination — so the fixture reads as part of the brand rather than as shop equipment.

Fixings and load

Where a floor allows it we prefer free-standing designs with a weighted base and no wall fixing at all. Where a wall system is needed, a spread plate distributes the load so a single drilling point never carries it, and on heritage or leased fabric we design a structure that stands clear of the wall entirely. Every specification states the rated load so store staff can load the rack correctly.

Custom Garment Racks FAQ

What is the difference between a wall rail system and a floor-standing rack?

A wall rail system hangs garments off the wall and keeps the floor clear, which maximises product density and makes the floor look generous. A floor-standing rack sits in the room, so it can be moved and re-positioned freely and can carry heavier or more sculptural product. Most floors use both, and we design them together so the rail spacing and hanger pitch are consistent.

Can garment racks be fixed without damaging the wall?

In almost every case yes. Freestanding designs use a weighted or base plate footprint with no wall fixing at all, and where a wall system is required we use a spread plate that spreads the load so a single drilling point never carries the load. On heritage or leased fabric we design a free-standing structure that stands clear of the wall entirely.

How much weight can a custom garment rack hold?

It depends on the span and the base. We size the uprights, tube gauge and base weight from the intended garment load, the rail span and the number of people who will be browsing, and we tell you the rated capacity in the specification so store staff can load it correctly.

Do racks ship flat-packed for overseas stores?

Yes. Racks are designed to break down into flat modules within standard freight dimensions, with fixings bagged per module and an illustrated assembly manual. They are pre-assembled and test-fitted in the workshop first, so assembly on site is straightforward even for local labour.
