Window Display Design
A shop window is the cheapest advertising space a brand owns and the only one a passer-by cannot choose to ignore. We design window displays that carry one clear idea, read at a glance from the pavement, and can be rebuilt for the next campaign without starting from zero.
Start a ProjectDesigning a window that earns the walk-in
Street-facing display works on a two-second rule. A passer-by absorbs a silhouette, one colour gesture and a height change before they read anything, so the composition has to be legible at that distance. Our window display design process starts with the story: which product leads, what the secondary products are doing in relation to it, and what the customer is meant to feel before they know the brand.
From there we design the build. Props are engineered to survive being rebuilt every few weeks, mounted without damaging the shopfront, and stored between campaigns so the next changeover is a matter of hours rather than a fresh commission. Where a client has several windows or several sites, we build a modular kit so the whole estate changes together.
Changeover planning
Ask us for an annual changeover calendar rather than a single window. We map the campaign calendar, festival peaks and sales periods onto the number of windows you run, then specify props that reconfigure across those dates. Most clients reduce their per-window cost substantially in the first year once the system is designed for rotation rather than for a single launch.

Window Display Design FAQ
How often should a shop window change?
For fashion retail, every four to six weeks is standard, aligned to the buying and campaign calendar; for seasonal or promotional peaks we build in extra changeovers for sales periods and festivals. We plan the annual changeover schedule early so the same props can be reconfigured rather than rebuilt.
Can window displays be installed overnight without closing the store?
Yes. Our installers work overnight or during agreed closed hours, working bay by bay and leaving the shopfront clear for opening. We provide a method statement and a risk assessment, and repeat installations are much faster because the crew and the rigging are already familiar with the site.
Do you design for daylight as well as night?
Both matter and they fail in different ways. We design the composition for both: control of backlight so the shop interior reads through the glass, sun shading where a west-facing window would overheat products, and internal lighting levels for after dark so the scheme still holds at 8pm.
How much does a window display design cost?
Cost depends mainly on how much is new fabrication and how often the display must change. A rotation that reuses modular props and changes only product and graphic is far more economical than a fully bespoke build each season. We design for reuse from the start and show you the cost difference between options early.
